Coblenz, March 17, 2025. 1822direkt, a company of Frankfurter Sparkasse mbH, has integrated the Docutain Photo Payment SDK for photo payment into its 1822direkt banking app. This makes it easier for customers of the 1822direkt banking app to pay bills, as they only need to be scanned quickly. The data relevant for the payment is then recognized automatically, reliably and without data protection risk in real time.
As a company of Frankfurter Sparkasse, 1822direkt combines the best of two worlds: The tradition and security of Frankfurter Sparkasse with the speed and convenience of 1822direkt's direct banking.
The Docutain Photo Payment SDK integrates high-quality scanning and local text recognition into the banking app in real time. It recognizes invoice data such as IBAN, recipient, amount and purpose precisely and quickly and enables the automatic completion of the transfer form with the previously recognized information.
The data is recognized locally on the user's device and no external servers are connected to evaluate the data. The data protection aspect is convincing more and more banking app providers in Germany, as invoices contain a lot of sensitive customer data.

We are integrating Docutain's solution into our 1822direkt banking app, replacing the previous solution for recording transfer data. Users can simply take a photo of invoices or transfer forms. The software automatically recognizes all relevant payment information - recipient, IBAN, purpose and amount - and transfers it directly to the transfer form.
A key advantage of the new solution is local processing on the device. Sensitive data is not sent to external servers, which increases data security and makes the function independent of an internet connection.
