In its products StarMoney and SFirm for Windows, Star Finanz wants to replace the previous solution for extracting invoice data with the Docutain SDK, so that in the course of photo transfers the recognized data is automatically pre-filled.

Requirements

A high-quality scanner solution that enables scanning or importing of invoices. It must also be able to automatically recognize and extract data from invoice documents. The solution must work locally on the user's device.

Solution

With the integration of the Docutain Scan & OCR SDK, users can simply scan or photograph their remittance. Relevant payment data is automatically detected and returned to the application, injecting the data to pre-populate remittance slips. This process runs locally on the device and increases data protection in the application, as no sensitive data is transmitted over the Internet.

The goal: Increase application safety

In order to make the preparatory process for the photo transfer, namely the automatic readout of the relevant invoice information after scanning or importing an invoice document, even more secure, Star Finanz made a conscious decision to switch from a previously server-side provider to Docutain's local solution. Especially in the area of mobile banking, the sensitive handling of data is elementary. In order to completely avoid transferring this data over the Internet, Star Finanz decided to use Docutain, whose document scanner and OCR function run 100% offline and locally on the device. At no time is data passed on to external servers or third-party providers.
