Goals

SIMA wanted to improve the quality of document scans of proof of deliveries (PoDs), which drivers collect after committing a delivery to be able to further process the information on the scans.

Requirements

A high-quality scanner solution that enables drivers to easily scan proof of deliveries to send them to their final transport customer. The Scanner SDK should read collected data and has to run locally and offline on the device. It has to be compatible for Android and iOS.

Solution

With the integration of the Docutain Scan & OCR SDK, drivers can simply scan PoDs on the go and send them to the final customer. Document capturing works even in remote areas as internet connecion is not needed.

SIMA integrated Docutains document scanning and OCR text recognition capabilities into the company's driver app.
Originally, the drivers simply took pictures with the smartphone camera at hand. These images often were of poor quality, crooked or barely readable for the final customer. In this case the driver was asked to capture the document again, which took additional time and effort.
Within a very short integration time, SIMA successfully provided their drivers Docutain's scanning functionality, ensuring that they can now easily scan PoDs and deliver good results, also thanks to the automatic document detection, cropping and filter options.
